Clark County, Washington Inmate Search

Clark County inmate search refers to a process that allows the public to access and locate detainees currently held by law enforcement agencies. This process allows the verification of the detainee’s custody status and obtains other details about them, such as their full name, housing location, assigned County File Number, and booking date. Inmate searches also provide access to the details of the charges against the detainee and the bail or bond requirements set by the court. The primary detention facility in the county is the Clark County Jail, which is supported by the Clark County Jail Work Center.

These correctional facilities are managed by the County Manager’s Office through the Corrections Branch. The county does not host any federal or state correctional facilities. The county’s jail facility also houses inmates from local police departments such as the Vancouver Police Department and the Battle Ground Police Department. These agencies execute arrests for the two most populous cities in Clark County, but do not offer online access to their inmate records. The public can access the sheriff’s office for in-person inquiries at:

What Information is Included in the Clark County Inmate Roster

The Clark County inmate roster contains publicly accessible details about a detainee that can help identify them and provide details about their detention status. These details and access to them are guided by the provisions of the Washington Public Records Act (Revised Code of Washington 42.56). Here are some details contained in the Clark County inmate roster:

  • Alleged Charges: This is a summary of the specific criminal offenses or statutory violations the detainee is accused of, as filed by the arresting agency or the Washington State Patrol.
  • Book Date: The exact date the individual was taken into custody and processed into the jail system, which is critical for calculating legal timelines and credit for time served.
  • County File Number (CFN): This is a unique administrative identification number assigned by the Clark County Corrections Branch to track the detainee’s records, property, and movements within the facility.
  • Release Date: The scheduled or actual date the detainee is expected to be or has been released from custody, which may reflect sentence completion, bail posting, or transfer.
  • Detainee’s Name: The full legal first and last name of the individual as recorded during the intake and booking process. This may also include the detainee’s aliases at the time of the arrest.
  • Housing Location: The specific facility or housing unit within the Clark County jail system where the detainee is currently assigned, such as the Main Jail or the Jail Work Center.

The Clark County inmate roster also complies with the restrictions contained in state law. According to the Revised Code of Washington 70.48.100, all other records about a detainee that are not contained in the jail roster are considered confidential. These restrictions are in place to ensure data protection and individual privacy. They include details from ongoing investigations, personally identifiable information such as private phone numbers, juvenile records, medical records, and details about victims of the crime.

Jail Facility Overview in Clark County

Clark County’s jail system contains two jails that function together as the primary correctional facilities for the county. The Main Jail, located at the Clark County Law Enforcement Center in Vancouver, is an indirect supervision facility that serves as the county’s law enforcement intake facility and houses pretrial and locally sentenced medium and maximum security classified inmates. The facility can house more than 650 inmates and is managed under the County Manager’s Office. The second facility, the Jail Work Center, is located on Lower River Road and serves as a minimum security facility primarily for work release participants and lower-risk inmates. The county does not host any federal or state-level prison facilities. Juvenile offenders are not housed in either adult facility and are instead handled through the Washington State Juvenile Justice system and regional juvenile detention services.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Clark County Jail?

Clark County Jail allows inmates to receive money from loved ones, which they can spend on commissary items such as snacks, personal hygiene products, clothing, and mailing materials. Inmates are limited to one commissary purchase per week. When a person is booked into the Clark County Jail, any cash they have during booking is deposited directly into their inmate commissary account.

Friends and family may add money to an inmate’s account through several methods. The most convenient online option is through the county’s approved payment platform, which accepts credit and debit card payments. You can access the Send Commisary Money link through the Jail Services’ Inmate Money website. Deposits can also be made in person at the kiosk located in the Main Jail lobby, which accepts cash only and is available during lobby business hours and during visitation hours. A third option is to deposit funds over the phone through the inmate money service provider. Anyone making a deposit must provide the inmate’s full name and County File Number (CFN).

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

Clark County inmate search can be done using the Jail Roster tool. This tool provides access to records of individuals housed at both the Main Jail and the Jail Work Center. It is the county’s central system for accessing current inmate records. Juvenile detainee records will not be accessible through this website because they are protected by law. Those records must be requested through the appropriate juvenile justice channels by qualified individuals such as parents, legal guardians, or attorneys, following proper verification of identity. Offenders sentenced to long-term imprisonment at a state prison will not appear in the county jail roster because they have been transferred to a state facility managed by the Washington State Department of Corrections, which maintains its own separate Offender Search tool.

Clark County Visitation Rules and Schedules

Clark County Jail allows family members and friends to visit inmates, provided that the visits are prearranged. The jail offers video visitation only, which can be done remotely from home or onsite at the jail facility using the lobby kiosks. Inmates must have been in custody for at least 72 hours before any type of visitation is permitted. All visitors must be on the inmate’s approved visitor list, with each inmate allowed up to four adults and up to six children. There is also an option for one religious visitor. Each visitor must present a valid government-issued photo ID and must register an account for scheduling.

Only one person may visit at the jail’s available lobby kiosks at a time. On-site visits are free, while remote visits are fee-based. Visitors should use only the East Entrance of the Main Jail facility and should not bring any personal belongings inside, leaving all items in their vehicle except for their valid ID and car keys. Mailing and Commissary Information

Clark County Jail allows inmates to receive mail from friends and loved ones, which must meet the facility’s rules. The jail processes all incoming personal mail, including letters, pictures, and drawings, to avoid any contraband getting through the physical mail system. Physical mail is therefore sent to the digital scanning vendor rather than directly to the facility. Mail must include the sender’s full name and return address in the upper left corner of the envelope, or it will not be delivered. Standard blue or black ink must be used; felt markers, crayons, colored ink, glitter, confetti, lipstick, perfume, and drawings on the envelope are not permitted.

Stamps cannot be included in mail; inmates must purchase stamps through the commissary. Other items not accepted include food or clothing items, foreign or unidentifiable substances, non-paper material, and padded or laminated greeting cards. Legal mail and publications such as books and magazines from publishers should be addressed separately to the facility’s PO Box. The jail also allows deposits into the inmate’s commissary account through the county’s approved payment services.
